Corngreaves Iron and Steel Works

Erstes in Birmingham und Umgebung errichtetes Eisenwerk von George Attwood.

Im Jahr 1771 eröffnete George Attwood das Stahlwerk Corngreaves Steel Works. Bis 1810 besass er neben dem Eisenwerk Corngreaves Iron Works mehrere Mühlen am Fluss Stour. Nach seinem Tod im Jahr 1817 übernahmen seine Söhne Matthias und James die Leitung des Unternehmens. Ab 1843 wurden die Anlagen unter dem Namen «New British Iron Company» bekannt.

Thomas Attwood war einer der Söhne von Matthias Attwood (1746–1836) und somit Enkel des Fabrikgründers George Attwood.
