The Method of Fluxions von Newton

The Method of Fluxions by Newton

The book that Isaac Newton wrote on differential calculus.

The book was completed in 1671 but only published posthumously in 1736. Its Latin title is De Methodis Serierum et Fluxionum. Newton developed the method at the time when the University of Cambridge, where he taught, was closed during the Great Plague of London. He decided, however, not to publish his findings. Gottfried Leibniz developed his variant of calculus independently of Newton around 1673, in other words, seven years after Newton had developed the basis for differential calculus. Leibniz published his discovery of differential calculus in 1684, nine years before Newton. The question of priority is still a matter of scientific dspute.
