Teerfarbe
Mit Steinkohlenteer als Bindemittel verwendete, oder aus Bestandteilen des Steinkohleteers hergestellte Farben.
In ersterer Bedeutung wurden Teerfarben verwendet, um Holz und Holzbauten, wie z.B. Zäune oder Dächer langlebiger zu machen. Die zweite Bedeutung bezieht sich auf die ab 1856 aus Steinkohlenteer (bzw. Anilin) gewonnenen synthetischen Farbstoffe, wie das Mauvein.
tar dye
Colours which use coal tar dye as a binding agent or are produced from components of coal tar dye.
In the first meaning coal tar dyes were used to prolong the lifespan of wood and wood structures such as fences or roofs. The second meaning refers to synthetic dyes such as mauveine that were manufactured as of 1856 from coal tar dye (or aniline).
