Stahlluppe
Zwischenprodukt in der Stahlproduktion; entweder noch zu bearbeitender oder in Bearbeitung befindlicher Stahl.
Im Reisetagebuch von 1851 erwähnt Johann Conrad Fischer Stahlluppen aus dem indischen Golkonda. Aufgrund des Spektakels, das der dort gefundene Koh-i-Noor-Diamant ausgelöst hatte, könnte es sein, dass Fischer Golkonda irrtümlich genannt hat und in Wirklichkeit Hyderabad, die Region, in der Golkonda liegt, meinte. Hyderabad war der Sitz der Mogulmacht in Indien.
Der persische Stahl, der von den Moguln nach Indien gebracht wurde, gehörte zu den frühesten bekannten Edelstahltypen und wurde durch Chrom rostfrei gemacht. Es gab aber zu Fischers Zeit keine allgemeine Bezeichnung für solche Legierungen. «Stahl aus Golkonda» könnte Fischers Art sein, auf eine solche Legierung hinzuweisen.
steel flake

In his 1851 Journal, Johann Conrad Fischer mentions steel flakes from Golconda in India. Owing to the excitement surrounding the Koh-i-Noor diamond found there, Fischer may have mentioned Golconda by mistake, whereas in fact he meant Hyderabad, the region where Golconda is located. Hyderabad was the centre of Moghul power in India.
Persian steel, which was brought to India by the Moghuls, was among the earliest known high-grade steels and was made stainless by the use of chromium. In Fischer’s time, however, there was no general term covering all such alloys. “Steel from Golconda” may have been his way of denoting such an alloy.
