Waterframe

Erste Spinnmaschine mit von Menschenkraft unabhängigem Antrieb durch ein Wasserrad. Im Jahre 1769 erfunden und zum Patent angemeldet.

Als Erfinder dieser Flügelspinnmaschine gilt Richard Arkwright. Es ist jedoch bekannt, dass auch andere bei den zahlreichen Erfindungen Arkwrights mitgewirkt haben. So wird als Miterfinder der Waterframe auch John Kay genannt.

The first spinning frame driven by a water wheel rather than human power. It was invented and registered for patent in 1769.

Richard Arkwright is considered to be the inventor of the water frame. However, it is known that other people were involved in Arkwright’s many inventions. John Kay is also mentioned as having had a hand in the invention of the water frame.
