Natriumchlorid
Das Natriumsalz der Salzsäure; Kochsalz.
Der Verwendungsbereich des Natriumchlorids ist sehr breit. Unter anderem wird es beim Brennen von Keramik für die sogenannte Salzglasur verwendet. Hierfür wird Natriumchlorid in Form von Steinsalz in das Feuer im Brennofen gegeben, damit dessen Rauchgase das Brenngut umströmen und sich eine Glasschicht bildet.

Sodium chloride has a very wide range of uses. Among other things, it is used in the firing of ceramics for the so-called salt glaze. For this, sodium chloride in the form of rock salt is added to the fire in the kiln so that its flue gases flow around the material to be fired and form a layer of glass.
